infinityblade

The Assassin is a regular titan, appearing in Infinity Blade I. The Assassin uses a unique version of the Slither with a golden hilt, the Supreme Shield, and a unique helmet and armor that is not available as equipment to the player. Unlike other Regular Titans, which aside from bosses all use the same voice sounds, the Assassin uses his own unique sounds.

Location

Unlike every other Regular sized enemy in Infinity Blade I, the Assassin can only be randomly encountered at The Courtyard Balcony, and The Bridge. He can be played in the new discontinued Multiplayer Mode, after the Iron Golem.

This section contains information that is official, but for one reason or another has been deemed as not canon to the central lore.

Hailing from the distant and mysterious land of Shang-Tu, the Assassin came to the Dark Citadel with a singular goal: to prove his mastery over death itself by defeating the God-King. He failed. Now, forced to serve the Deathless One, the Assassin's movements are a haunting dance of death, his every action driven by precision and speed. His eyes, once filled with pride, now hold only the cold acceptance of his eternal servitude. He is both elegant and deadly, every step an artful display of martial prowess.

Combat

The Assassin is Light, Regular Sized, fast fighting enemy, who will often use kicks, and shield bashes during combat. The Assassin compared to other Regular Sized titans in Infinity Blade I is rather unique, the Assassin has two Stepbacks exclusive to him, whereas most others only have one. The Assassin is also unique in the fact he can be skipped entirely because as mentioned earlier, he can only appear at The Courtyard Balcony, and The Bridge, so you can take the side entrance through The Prison and never encounter him.

Stepbacks

Double Slash

Assassin-Stepback-C-IB1

Analysis

In this Stepback the Assassin moves back, then delivers a diagonal slash from the left, and then another diagonal Slash from the right.

This Stepback can be avoided in multiple ways. The most optimal is dodge to left, or block to avoid the first attack. Than, parry the final attack from the right. The parry break will give you the most amount of time to strike back. (Note: In IB1, only parrying the FINAL attack will allow you attack and interrupt a Stepback, so make sure you parry the final swing and not the first one) Alternatively, you can also dodge to the left, and then right to avoid the first and second slash respectively. If you're having trouble with either of these then holding Shields will also work, it's just the least efficient sense it will give you the least amount of time to strike back, and Assassin can still deal damage if he has elemental attacks, provided you don't have a corresponding elemental defense Shields or gem.

Twirl Slash

Analysis

In this Stepback the Assassin spins backwards, then delivers a horizontal slash from the right, and then a downward slash from towards the center.

This Stepback can be avoided in multiple ways, the most optimal is to block the first slash from the right, and than parry the final downward slash. This will give you a parry break which will give you the most amount of time to strike back. If you're having trouble with either of these then holding Shields will also work, it's just the least efficient sense it will give you the least amount of time to strike back, and Assassin can still deal damage if he has elemental attacks, provided you don't have a corresponding elemental defense Shields or gem.

Double Bash Slash

Assassin-Stepback-A-IB1

Analysis

In this Stepback the Assassin moves backwards before delivering a shield bash from the right, the quickly spinning to deliver another shield bash from the left and finishing with a slash from the right.

This Stepback can be avoided in multiple ways, the most optimal is to dodge in any direction to avoid the first shield bash, then dodge to the right to avoid the second shield bash, than finally parry the final attack by swiping to the right. This will give you a parry break which will give you the most amount of time to strike back. It's worth noting that right before the Assassin delivers his second shield bash, a stab icon will appear on his side. But sense Stab-breaks equate to less damage than parry breaks, it's only recommended to do this if there is not time to avoid the follow-up attacks. Shielding is not advisable, since both shield bashes can break through your guard. So if you are going to shield only do it for the final attack, and remember that the Assassin can still deal damage if he has elemental attacks, provided you don't have a corresponding elemental defense Shields or gem.

Combat Tips

The Assassin can deliver relatively quick attacks and can deal heavy damage, and sense the Assassin only appears in Infinity Blade I, you can only use Light Weapons against him. However, the Assassins strongest moves, that being his Stepbacks, are only really common in the third phase. So if you are struggling to avoid his Stepbacks, it may be advantages to save your super and or magic until the third phase and dump them to quickly/instantly skip his most challenging stage. Alternatively, you can avoid him entirely by taking the Well into the Prison at the once you defeat the Titan at the Outer Gate.
